Tour #1: Upper Pass Beer Co.
Start/End: South Royalton, Vermont Miles: 23.6 Difficulty: Moderate Duration: 4 Hours
Cost: $115/person, discount for 7+ riders
The original Vermont Bike & Brew tour starts and ends on the town green in South Royalton, Vermont. Because South Royalton is situated in the White River Valley, every ride starts with a climb. You will quickly discover the power of the electric assistance as you ascend into the high country of Barnard, Vermont.
Traveling along classic dirt roads with bubbling brooks to keep you company, the first stop along the route is at Kiss The Cow Farm Store. Known for their homemade ice cream (you may want a whole pint to yourself!), Kiss The Cow stocks all sorts of other local products from coffee to chocolate to fresh produce. You’re bound to find something to enjoy in the moment and something to take home. Heads up: Kiss The Cow is cash only.
After having your fill of farm stand treats, the route continues to the Barnard General Store, which puts out fantastic deli sandwiches to enjoy after a dip across the street in Silver Lake.
A few miles of pedaling brings you to Fable Farm Fermentory, where brother’s Christopher and Jonathan always have a special cider or sparkling wine to share. But you shouldn’t expect anything typical about the products from Fable Farm; they are truly one-of-a-kind!
With so much great food and beverage, you’ll want to make sure you save room for the grand finale: Upper Pass Beer Co. The beer is brewed off-site and served out of the First Branch Cafe, which is right on the green where the day’s ride began. Pass your bikes off and enjoy the rest of the day sampling whatever is fresh at Upper Pass Beer Co.
