The back roads of Norwich offer some of the finest gravel road biking in the entire state of Vermont. Each of these three routes highlights a different combination of scenic roads and viewpoints before returning to Norwich. Within 2 miles of town you’ll find a wealth of classic Vermont Bike & Brew tour stops and small, local businesses.
You came for the beer, right? Jasper Murdock’s Alehouse at The Norwich Inn is known for producing traditional English-style Ales in 5-gallon glass jugs. The pub is small and cozy, making you feel right at home. But if the sun is shining, take your beer out to the patio. There is a full kitchen on-site so if you’re looking for a meal, the Norwich Inn is a great option.
Dan& Whit’s General Store is one of the most iconic general stores in the whole state. Their motto “If we don’t have it, you don’t need it” holds true and they’re open 365 days a year. Set aside some time to explore the store and add a few extra minutes to find your way out – this ain’t no corner store.
Just around the corner on Route 5 (and featured on the “Jericho Variation”) is the Crossroad Farm Stand. In addition to herbs and vegetables grown at their farm in Post Mills, VT, the farm stand features local produce from neighboring vegetable, fruit, and flower farms. Three cheers for supporting local!
