The Upper Pass E-Bike Tour is a self-guided, 23.6-mile loop that starts on the town green in South Royalton, VT. It takes about 4 hours, it’s rated moderate, and it starts at $149 per person with a 2-rider minimum. Expect classic Vermont back roads, farm stand treats, a lakeside lunch and local brews, all on a pedal-assist e-bike from Vermont Bike & Brew.

Tour Overview

Your adventure begins on the historic town green of South Royalton, Vermont. Right from the start, you’ll feel the magic of your pedal-assist e-bike as you cruise up the first climb — leaving the valley floor behind and entering a world of rolling farmland, quiet forests, and peaceful country roads.

Pedal along Vermont’s iconic dirt backroads, with shady trees overhead and the gentle sounds of brooks bubbling alongside you. Every turn offers postcard-worthy views: green hills, grazing cows, and the fresh scent of wildflowers in the air.

Your first stop is Kiss The Cow Farm Store, a charming honor-system market known for homemade ice cream and local treats. (Tip: It’s cash & venmo only!) After a sweet break, you’ll head to the Barnard General Store to pick up deli sandwiches perfect for a lakeside picnic at Silver Lake.

Just down the road, treat yourself to a Vermont classic — a maple creemee — at Silver Lake Syrups. With a motto of “More than Maple” don’t sleep on all their other great goodies from Silver Lake. Then it’s a few scenic miles to Fable Farm Fermentory, where you’ll find one-of-a-kind ciders and sparkling wines crafted with care.

The day ends with a long, fun descent back to South Royalton, where the ride finishes on a high note to refuel at Worthy Burger or Carlita’s Cocina, where cold brews from Upper Pass Beer Co. and delicious tacos at await.

“A fantastic experience!! The route we followed had a good mix of scenery, terrain and options to visit local businesses (farm, general store, lake, winery). It was our first time using this type of bike and it made a 25-mile trip very doable. And very importantly, Jonas was there from our first phone call through the completion of the trip to ensure we had everything we needed. Can’t wait until our next visit and another ride!!“
